In Twisted, the Tornado Vortex Signature or TVS is a special radar marker that shows up when the in-game radar detects a tornado. This usually means there’s a tornado currently on the ground, just touched down or has just lifted (sometimes you may see it in between radar sweeps despite them being frequent). The TVS icon helps chasers know where the tornado is and can assist them with tracking tornadoes more accurately, even if they can’t see them visually.

Tornado Vortex Signature (TVS)

In Twisted, the Tornado Vortex Signature or TVS is a special radar marker that shows up when the in-game radar detects a tornado. This usually means there’s a tornado currently on the ground, just touched down or has just lifted (sometimes you may see it in between radar sweeps despite them being frequent). The TVS icon helps chasers know where the tornado is and can assist them with tracking tornadoes more accurately, even if they can’t see them visually.

Although this is an extremely helpful feature, it isn't perfect. The TVS icon is a rough estimate of where the tornado is and you should never assume it is pin point accurate. It's important to always be aware of your surroundings, watch what other players are saying about the storm and make your own observations.

Notes about TVS:

TVS is NOT indicative of an EF (Enhanced Fujita) scale rating. This should only be determined by players that are able to utilize the National Weather Service (NWS) game pass as they are able to assess damage and assign wind estimates. Although there are many indicators of higher end violent tornadoes such as well built homes being completely swept from their foundation or significant tree debarking, it's best to do proper damage assessments.

The TVS will change color based off of estimated intensity, this means higher end TVS icons such as red or pink are indicative of a strong to violent tornado.

In short, the TVS is your main radar tool for finding and chasing tornadoes, but it’s not perfect! You should always double-check what’s actually happening in-game and work with other chasers to stay on top of what is currently happening.
